JSO CHORUS COVID-19 POLICY

The Johnstown Symphony is committed to returning to rehearsing and performing in as safe an environment as possible during the 2022-2023 season.  Choral singing presents its own unique set of challenges as it pertains to the possible spread of Covid-19.  In studying the research that has been completed by organizations like the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Teachers of Singing and in conjunction with the guidance suggested by the CDC, the Johnstown Symphony has developed guidelines for the JSO Chorus to have a successful season.

Per the guidelines in place via the CDC and information from the other two organizations, wearing a mask during rehearsal is OPTIONAL.  Those singers  who feel more comfortable wearing a mask are encouraged to look into purchasing a singer’s mask as they tend not to be so close to your face and do not impede the ability to move your jaw around in the act of singing.  As more information comes available, these policies may be revisited and the guidelines for the chorus may change.

If you have tested positive for covid, been exposed to someone who has covid, or have symptoms of covid, you should NOT attend rehearsal that week.   Recordings of rehearsals will be made weekly and provided to you for review.

If you have any further questions about the Covid-19/Mask protocols for the JSO Chorus, please contact Jeff Webb at jwebb@johnstownsymphony.org
