What are Young People’s Concerts?

The JSO presents at least two free concerts for area students every year. The concerts introduce young audiences to the instruments and sounds of the orchestra. Teachers interested in bringing students to these concerts should call the JSO office early in the school year. We welcome nearly 2,000 area student to the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center.

INFO SESSION:
JULY 26 at 3:00 p.m.

We are hosting an on-line information session about our participation in Link Up. Write to Jo Novelli-Blasko for the link. RSVP to JNovelli@johnstownsymphony.org

The JSO is partnering with Carneigie Hall to offer the Link Up program which gives students in 3-5 grades the opportunity to learn about, listen to, and perform music with the JSO. Students participating in Link Up explore an interactive curriculum in which they learn to sing and play an instrument in the classroom before performing with the orchestra from their seats at a culminating concert.

Resources for Teachers

Prior to the concert, spend some time exploring videos of the music we will be performing and completing the music themed activities with your students. Discover all the tools available to you through the Link Up program and contact Kevin Eisensmith for more information (tptprof@live.iup.edu).

Please encourage your interested students to join the Johnstown Symphony Youth Orchestra (JSYO).
