SHARE THE MUSIC

The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra is committed to music education in our region through Share the Music is an outreach enrichment program for students. The primary goals of this educational initiative are to make it possible for students to enjoy JSO concerts and to enhance their musical study on an instrument by taking private lessons with a professional musician.

Changing lives through the power of music

Music is an art that brings out the creativity of an individual from the youngest child to the oldest adult. The Share the Music program aims to foster the love of music and to teach the skills needed to play an instrument to students in our community who may not otherwise have the opportunity.  The JSO initiated the Share-the-Music program in the fall of 2012.

Instruments have been donated to the JSO and are available for use by students who are recommended to the program by their school music teachers. Teachers should call the JSO office for more information 814 535-6738.

Students who are interested in low cost or free instrument lessons should fill out the application.

To donate an instrument, make a donation, or if you are a music teacher who has a talented student who would benefit from private lessons, please contact Christopher Mantell at the JSO Office at 814-535-6738.

Funding is provided by the Pennsylvania Rural Arts alliance from the 1889 foundation Creative Health Impact Grant.
