On March 20, at 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM, the Grand Halle on Broad Street presents the Principal String Quartet of the Johnstown Symphony in concert as the premiere of a series to be called “inSPIREd: JSO at the Grand Halle.” Due to state restrictions, admission to the concerts is by invitation only. More information is available by calling (814) 536-7986.
The Principal String Quartet of the JSO will perform a program at each location approximately 45-60 minutes in length with no intermission. The performance, entitled I Sing America showcases the melody and energy of composers including famed suffragette Ethel Smyth, Gabriela Lena Frank, and Jessie Montgomery, as well as the evocative music of George Walker, and concludes with a youthful quartet of Beethoven. The artists are Maureen Conlon-Gutierrez, violin; Therese West, violin; Stephen Weiss, viola; and Olga Redkina, cello.
Due to state-mandated capacity limitations for indoor spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the concern of the partnership to ensure a safe environment for audiences and musicians, audience sizes will be kept very small. As the regulations relax and safety returns, the partnership has plans to provide more and broader opportunities for the community to experience music together.
Since the safety of the public and the artists is the priority, it may be necessary to change the format, shift dates, or cancel these events due to developing public health concerns. If programming cannot be provided, the Grand Halle will communicate changes to patrons in a timely fashion and offer refunds to those who purchase tickets. Admission will be handled directly through the Grand Halle. Strict compliance with state capacity guidelines and social-distancing will be observed, and face-coverings for all attendees, staff, and musicians will be required.
